Baim Boltin as a participant in the conclusion of the Polyanovsk peace treaty and demarcation of borders

This article is devoted to the role of the little-known nobleman Baim Fedorovich Boltin in the peace negotiations between Russia and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth after the end of the Smolensk War of 1632-1634 and in the delimitation of disputed territories. The work considers: the processes of organizing embassies, the work of demarcation commissions, parochial disputes between the participants in these events.

The аccusatory еrend in Russian satirical journalism in the first half of the 1860s: Foreign policy aspect

 The article is devoted to foreign policy topics in Russian satirical journals of the first half of the 1860s. The author analyzes the historical content of feuilletons and caricatures of the leading satirical magazines of the era “Iskra” and “Zanoza”. The article reveals the historical and cultural origins of the “accusatory trend” in public opinion and the press of Russia at the turn of the 1850s-1860s, the peculiarities of its implementation in relation to the foreign policy aspect.

“A panorama of a truly new era opens” (Soviet “experiment’’ in the interpretation of N. V. Ustryalov)

The article examines the public and political position of an outstanding personality of the Russian emigration of the “first” wave of Nikolai Vasilyevich Ustryalov. On the basis of various sources, his attitude to key issues of state construction, formed under the influence of a radical socio-political transformation in Russia, is analyzed.

Organization of pedestrian crossings of Soviet repatriates to the western border of the USSR (1944–1945)

 The article analyzes the work of the Office of the Commissioner of the SNK of the USSR for the repatriation of Soviet citizens, Military councils, headquarters of fronts and armies for the return of Soviet displaced persons on foot in 1944–1945. The central place in the publication is occupied by the analysis of the organization of the mechanism of pedestrian crossings of released Soviet prisoners of war and civilian displaced persons to the western border of the USSR.

Modern scientific schools and centers of Russian cooperation: Trends and development prospects

The article describes the achievements of scientific schools in the study of cooperation at various stages of its formation and development. First of all, modern centers for the study of the history of Russian cooperation, formed in the 1990s, when the role of cooperation in the development of the country of the pre-revolutionary and NEP periods and up to the present time began to be rethought, are studied. The oldest scientific schools of the history of cooperation deserve special attention: Ivanovo, Siberian, MSPI-MSPU, Saratov, Samara, Petrozavodsk, etc.

Nikifor Mikhailovich Koshelev: The pages of biography

For the first time, the article presents the life of the Ryazan landowner Nikifor Mikhailovich Koshelev, whose service in the 1620s was closely associated with Saratov. Having been appointed commander of the streletsky order in the left-bank Saratov (streletsky head), he distinguished himself in many battles against thieves Cossacks and Tatars, for which he was twice awarded by the government of Mikhail Romanov. His further service has been traced during the embassy to Denmark together with Vasily Gavrilovich Korobyin.

Failed return: Germans in the Volga region. 1955–2010

The article examines the attempts to return the Volgagermans, deported in 1941, to their places of pre-war residence. The author gives a periodization of these processes and reveals the features of each period. Attempts to relocate to the Volga from Siberia and Kazakhstan began to be undertaken since 1956 after the abolition of the special settlement regime for the Germans (1955). Until the end of 1972, they were illegal, the settlers faced many difficulties, since there was a ban on the return of the Germans to the places of the pre-war accommodation.

Relocation of the workforce from the Pskov region to the Amur (1961–1967)

The article deals with the problems of the implementation of state tasks in the Pskov region for the planned relocation of labor to multiland areas of the Amur region (1961–1967). Statistical data on the number of resettled are given, the difficulties of the ongoing campaigns and their consequences for one of the indigenous regions of Russia are revealed.

The Concept of ‘Developed Socialism’ as response of the USSR to ideological and socio-economic challenges of the time (1964–1982)

In the 1960s, Soviet ideology came face to face with new challenges and threats, both internal and external. The leadership of the USSR was aware of these challenges and decided to rework the ideology on the basis of the concept of ‘Developed Socialism’ created in the socialist countries of Eastern Europe. In the Soviet Union, this concept became the ideological basis of the ‘Brezhnev’s society’ and was used to respond to domestic and foreign policy challenges faced by the Soviet Union.

Attitude towards children in the English factories in the first half of the XIX century (based on reports and memories of contemporaries)

In this article author tries to review and set on the basis of reports of parliamentary committees and workers memories, what was the attitude towards children working in the industry in England the first half of the XIX century. The author comes to the conclusion that the children were corporeal punished. In one case, they stimulate the work of children in the other - carrying a sadistic character, brought pleasure to those who struck the victim.

The article analyses the views of the British officials responsible for the appeasement of the Scottish Highlands in time of Jacobite rebellions and conspiracy (1689–1759) on the Highlanders. Especially material concerns with the representation, interpretation and the use of the ethnographic information about them in the appeasement of the Highlands. The rhetoric strategies of that «inventive» and «imaginative» discourse of the British officials’ narratives and its strategic political and military aims, role and issues are also the subjects of this analysis.

THE AGRARIAN LAW OF GAIUS SEMPRONIUS GRACCHUS IN NARRATIVE AND EPIGRAPHIC EVIDENCE

This article considers the ancient evidence for agrarian law of Gaius Sempronius Gracchus. On the basis of re-examination of our literary and epigraphic sources author criticizes the view that this law was identical to the lex Sempronia agraria of 133 bC. he tries to define the categories of public land, which was distributed among Roman citizens during the agrarian reform of 123–122 bC.

ÆLFRIC’S HOMILY ON THE OLD TESTAMENT «ESTHER» IN THE HISTORICAL CONTEXT OF LATE SAXON ENGLAND

The article focuses on the Old Testament book of Esther and various aspects of its cultural adaptation in the homiletic writings of abbot Ælfric of Eynshem. Considering Ælfric’s homily on «Esther» the author examines early English Сhurch’s ideas of exemplary queenship, and concludes that in his retelling of the biblical plot Ælfric attempted to find a solution to crucial political issues of his time. he called his compatriots for prayer and Christian faith – the virtues he regarded as major weapons for defending England against heathens

THE BACON’S METAPHYSICAL HISTORISM

FRENCH MEDIEVAL LITERATURE IN HISTORICAL CONCEPT OF HUMANIST E. PASQUIER

The paper deals with a problem of reception of medieval French literature during the Renaissance in France. The auther claimes the thesis of formation of two points of view with that matter. The critical one formed by theoriciens of «Pleiade», and evolutional by humanist and Ronsard’s friend E. Pasquier. The late proposed the concept of unity of medieval and Renaissance French literature as well as unity of literature of langu’d’oil and langue d’oc and stating the influence of oxitaine literature on the genesis of early Renaissance Italian poesy.
