The peasantry of Central Russia during the First World War (1914 – the February of 1917)

The article is devoted to the interaction of the peasantry of Central Russia and the government during the First World War (1914–1918). The military period was favorable for the Russian village in its struggle for the country’s land fund. The war, bringing forth inevitable hardships and difficulties, did not, however, damage the Russian agriculture severely. Using different ways of putting pressure on the government, by the February of 1917 the peasantry was ready for the implementation of their hopes, especially in the form of the «Black Partition ».

The Famine and the Mennonite village of the Volga region in the 1920s

The article deals with the history of the Mennonite village life in the Volga Region at the beginning of the XX century, as seen through the prism of the first years of the Soviet power and the Volga region famine of 1921. This article is based on archival documents and historical sources of personal origin – diaries, letters, memoirs, etc.

Religious life in the Saratov Volga region in the 1930s.

The paper investigates the multi-faith religious life of the population of the Saratov region in the 1930s. Anti-church policy of the state has carried out since 1917, but in the early 1930s. sharply intensified, accompanied by mass lawlessness and repression. Defeating the church to the middle of the 1930s., The Bolshevik government was not able to destroy the religious life, which lasted semi-legally and illegally, in spite of persecution and repression.

The Housing policy of the Soviet state in 1953–1985 (based on the data of the Lower Volga region)

In this article, the main directions of the housing policy in the Lower Volga region in 1953-1985, in the period of Khurshchev’s and Brezhnev’s reforms, are analyzed. The article is based on the data from the archives and periodical press.

Pristine Saratov (1590-1609): the historiography of the question

The article considers the unknown pages of the history of Saratov during the first twenty years after the foundation of the city, the characteristic of the "Saratov Annals", composed 120 years ago is given. The main studies concerning this period of Saratov’s history are discussed in detail and their shortcomings are indicated.

The personnel policy in the Lower Volga region during the early postwar period (1946–1950)

The article presents the analysis of changes in the personnel policy caused by the transition to peacetime that allowed the local party and Soviet organizations to get stronger with the input of experienced employees, to raise the management level, to secure conformity and accordance within the party and society.

The process of migration to the post depositional territories of the Crimea and Northern Caucasus in 1944-1953: the main trends and outcomes

The article is devoted to the analysis of the complex and contradictory process of the migration of the soviet people in 1944-1953 within the territory of the Crimea and the Northern Caucasus, where the crimean tatars, chechens, ingushs, karachais, balkars and other ethnic groups were deported from. Also, the process of the migrants’ return from the post depositional territories is studied. The author makes a conclusion about the radical change of national structure in the Crimea and Northern Caucasus after the war.

The article describes the the unknown pages of the history of Saratov during the first fifteen years since the founding of the city. The sources of the history of this period of Saratov are discussed in detail. Particular attention is paid to the sources of wintering in Saratov Persian embassy of Perkula Bek. 

Social-economic development of district towns of Saratov region in 1780-s - early 1800-s.

On the basis of archival and published sources, the author explores the number and occupations of the inhabitants of the district towns of Saratov province in the 1780s — early 1800s. This article also tells about changes in the social-economic development of settlements after receiving city status.

Fighting church on the site in 1930: On the behavior of the Party and Soviet functionaries of the grass-roots level managers and ordinary believers

The article analyzes the relationship between the party and the grass-roots level Soviet functionaries and ordinary believers associated with the withdrawal from the church temples during the anti-religious campaign of the 1930s. Reconstructed model of behavior of participants of relations, explains the reasons for relatively easy win over the believers.

Regional Refraction of Modern Approaches to the study of the History of Public Education in Russia

The article shows how the works of the historian L. M. Artamonova from Samara reveals the impact changes in the field of public education and culture of provincial Russia in the XVIII-XXth centuries on the example of educational institutions in the cities and villages at Central Volga. «The look from the province» allows to see in a new light results of educational reforms in respect of the all-Russian modernization. Teachers played an important role in formation of the local intellectuals, not only in education, but also in scientific studying of the native land.

ПОСЕЛКИ ГОРОДЕЦКОЙ КУЛЬТУРЫ В ГЛУБИННЫХ РАЙОНАХ ДОНСКОЙ ЛЕСОСТЕПИ

Рассматривается проблема интерпретации поселений середины I тысячелетия до н.э., находящихся вне основного ареала городецкой археологической культуры, на территории обитания лесостепных племен Скифии. Анализируются материалы девяти изучавшихся раскопками поселений, расположенных на реках Дон, Воронеж, Битюг, Северский Донец. Обосновывается ранняя датировка этих памятников, которые в качестве промысловых стоянок или сезонных поселков земледельцев, видимо, предшествовали расселению в донской лесостепи носителей культуры скифского облика.

САРАТОВСКИЙ УЧИТЕЛЬ А. И. ШЕСТАКОВ – ПЕРВЫЙ ПРОФЕССИОНАЛЬНЫЙ ДИРЕКТОР НАРОДНЫХ УЧИЛИЩ В РОССИИ И ЕГО ОБЩЕСТВЕННО-ПРОСВЕТИТЕЛЬСКИЕ ВЗГЛЯДЫ НА РУБЕЖЕ XVIII–XIX ВВ.

В статье показано, что важную роль в развитии школьного образования в России конца XVIII - начала XIX вв. сыграл учитель Саратовского главного народного училища Шестаков. Он многое сделал для повышения социального статуса учителя. Шестаков стал первым профессиональным педагогом, которого назначили директором народных училищ одной из русских губерний. По своим общественным и педагогическим взглядам он был сторонником сословного образования и возражал против либеральной направленности школьных реформ Екатерины II и Александра I.

С.П. ШЕВЫРЕВ И ЕГО СВЯЗИ С САРАТОВСКОЙ ГУБЕРНИЕЙ

С. П. Шевырев был уроженцем Саратовской губернии, но его имя до последнего времени редко встречалось в трудах саратовских историков. В статье показано, каково было влияние культурной среды Саратова на формирование его личности и творческих устремлений. Связи с родной губернией оказались важными для Шевырева и в период, когда определились его научные интересы, и когда он занимался собиранием фольклора на ее территории.

ОСОБЕННОСТИ ДЕМОГРАФИЧЕСКОГО ПЕРЕХОДА В НИЖНЕМ ПОВОЛЖЬЕ В 1920 – 1930-Е ГГ.

В статье рассматриваются особенности демографического перехода в Нижнем Поволжье в  1920 – 1930-е гг. как составной части модернизации региона. Автор анализирует миграционное движение, динамику численности и половозрастной состав городского и сельского населения, а также административно-правовую роль государства в регулировании этих процессов. 

ОСНОВНЫЕ НАПРАВЛЕНИЯ АДРЕСНОЙ СОЦИАЛЬНОЙ ПОДДЕРЖКИ НАСЕЛЕНИЯ В ГОДЫ ВЕЛИКОЙ ОТЕЧЕСТВЕННОЙ ВОЙНЫ: ОПЫТ САРАТОВСКОЙ ОБЛАСТИ

В статье на примере Саратовской области рассматривается важная составляющая социальной политики Советского государства в годы Великой Отечественной войны – оказание адресной поддержки слабо защищенным слоям населения. Анализируются характер и масштабы мер материальной помощи семьям военнослужащих, инвалидам войны, матерям и детям, людям, пострадавшим от авиационных бомбардировок. Показывается, что патерналистская социальная политика государства сочеталась с общественной взаимопомощью.
