Features of the decision-making process in the United States on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (2010–2012)

The article is devoted to the study of the specifics of the TPP negotiation process and the analysis of the role of the Office of the US Trade Representative in its organization. Special attention is paid to the structures that had a key influence in the formation of the proposals promoted by the American delegation during the negotiations. The author comes to the conclusion that the members of the Trade Advisory Committees played a critical role in the development of the proposals that determined the agenda of the US delegation in relation to the TPP.

nternational participation in the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in 1990–2020

The article analyzes the mediation activities of international organizations in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict from 1992 to 2020. The positions of the OSCE, the United States, Russia, as well as Armenia, Azerbaijan and Nagorno-Karabakh regarding the plans for a peaceful settlement of the conflict are examined. The key role of the Russian Federation as a major regional factor in the reconciliation of the warring parties and the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh problem is considered.

US interaction with the TPSEP countries within the trade policy of the George W. Bush administration

The article is devoted to the study of the formation of the US foreign trade course in the Asia-Pacific region. Special attention is paid to the factors in bilateral relations with the TPSEP countries, which had a key influence on the decision of the George W. Bush administration to join the partnership. The author comes to the conclusion that failures in the implementation of the multilateral format of regional trade liberalization contributed to the fact that the United States entered the negotiation process on the TPSEP.

Approaches of G. Bush-senior and B. Clinton Administrations to the Problem of Nuclear Disarmament of Ukraine in the Period of 1992–1996

The article analyzes the approaches of G. Bush-senior and B. Clinton administrations to the problem of nuclear disarmament of Ukraine in the period of 1992–1996. The author studies the features of the negotiation process in the context of the goals and objectives of the United States. Based on an analysis of the texts of agreements, American and Ukrainian policy documents, expert assessments and memoirs of statesmen, the author comes to the conclusion that the nuclear disarmament of Ukraine was one of the key issues of both administrations during the indicated period. 

Religion and Soviet Society in the Works of American Observers of the 1930s

The article is devoted to the analysis of American observers’ views on the status of religion in the Soviet society in the 1930s. There were two different groups among them: engineers and workers who came to participate in the industrialization of the USSR, and professional journalists from the United States. Perceiving the socio-political processes that took place in our counrty often in different ways, the American observers agreed on one position.

Religious Discourse in the Early Debates of Penitentiary Reformers in the USA

The article examines the impact of the theological views of the American Protestant denominations representatives on the formation of theoretical and methodological foundations of the American prison systems. The U. S.A. is considered to be the «pioneers» in the realization of prison reforms in the nineteenth century. Actually it was in America that the first progressive penitentiary systems were arranged: Pennsylvanian and Auburn systems. The elements of American prison systems were later borrowed by European and Russian penal reformers.

The role of personal diplomacy of George W. Bush and V. Putin in the process of bilateral relations of U.S.A. And Russia is highlighted.

About a position of leaders of the USA on oil cooperation with Saudi Arabia in 1943

The article examines approaches of the American authorities to questions of providing the state with a strategic raw material – oil, in the specific conditions of World War II. This evidence revealed  the different approaches of the heads of ministries and departments to Saudi Arabia. The author reveals the role of U.S. business to strengthen political and economic cooperation with the oil emirate. This article demonstrates that a thorough analysis of documents opens up new possibilities for the study of US-Saudi relations in the abovementioned period.
