The article for the first time presents a detailed biography of the governor of Saratov, Prince Fyodor Petrovich Boryatinsky. This prince Rurikovich first distinguished himself in battles on the southern borders of the country in the final period of the Time of Troubles after the election of Mikhail Romanov as tsar. In the autumn of 1613, he freed Starodub from the supporters of the Polish prince Vladislav, participated in the campaign against Gomel, and then fought near Dorogobuzh, defended Moscow in 1618.

For the first time, a detailed biography of this serviceman is presented, who, before his appointment to Saratov, as a governor in Kozelsk, participated in the defense of the southern borders of Russia, and then in the RussianSwedish war and the assault on Narva.The author traces the further fate of B. V. Lodygin, who after Saratov served in Putivl and in the Monastyrevsky prison.

Saratov governor Averky Fedorovich Boltin (1644–1646)

The article for the first time presents a detailed biography of the governor of Saratov, Averky Fedorovich Boltin. This serving man from Arzamas became the steward of Patriarch Filaret, and then a Moscow nobleman. After serving in Saratov, he was a voivode in Tomsk, defended Kiev from the traitor-hetman Ivan Vyhovsky, served in Old Bykhov.

Embassy to Georgia of Prince Fyodor Fedorovich Volkonsky and Left-Bank Saratov in 1637–1639

The article considers unknown pages of the history of the left-bank of Saratov. Particular attention is paid to the collapse of the embassy caravan on the Volga near Saratov on October 1, 1639 and to the further actions of Prince F. F. Volkonsky’s Ambassador. For the first time a detailed chronology of the events that took place in this city in the summer of 1637 and in the autumn of 1639 is presented, the Saratov Chronicle compiled 120 years ago is supplemented over the years.The main sources about the history of Saratov of this period are analyzed in detail.

The article considers unknown pages of the history of Saratov since a quarter of a century after the restoration of the city at the end of the Time of Troubles on the left bank of the Volga. For the first time, a detailed chronology of all the currently known events that took place in this city in 1641–1650 is presented. The Saratov Chronicle, compiled about 120 years ago, is supplemented over the years, and the main sources on the history of Saratov of this period are also indicated.

Сотная организация в Шуе в XVII – начале XVIII века

В статье на материале архива шуйской земской избы рассматривается вопрос о сущности сотной организации в русском
городе в XVII в. Делается вывод, что полицейская сотная организация имела внешнее происхождение. В XVII в. эта организация окончательно теряет земские элементы в своей системе. В результате происходит устранение сотной администрации от реального участия в уголовном расследовании. Ситуация меняется лишь после городовой реформы 1699 г., в результате которой сотная организация получает собственную административную нишу.

Особое внимание уделено судьбе жителей этого города. Большинство жителей Торопца на короткое время вслед за москвичами присягнули московскому царю Владиславу, но уже через полгода
перешли на сторону освободительного движения против поляков.

В статье рассмотрены неизвестные страницы истории Торопца в один из самых драматических периодов истории России начала XVII в. Особое внимание уделено судьбе жителей этого города. Многие служилые люди Торопца сначала присягнули Тушинскому вору Лжедмитрию II, а затем перешли на сторону Василия Шуйского и сражались против самозванца в отрядах воеводы М. В. Скопина-Шуйского. Служилые люди Торопца успешно отразили все попытки тушинского военачальника Александра Лисовского и велижского старосты Александра Гонсевского захватить город.
