The Process of Euro-Atlantic Integration of Bulgaria in the 1990–2000s

The article examines the progress of the NATO’s«open-door» policy’s realization towards Bulgaria in the 1990-2000s taking into account the changes in the country in the socio-economic and military-political sphere, which were aimed at the integration into Euro-Atlantic structures. An analysis of the reasons that have forced NATO to begin reformatting of the Eastern Balkans and inclusion this subregion in its sphere of influence is made.

The article examines the first stage of NATO’s regional strategy elaboration in 1990–1995 in the context of fundamental changes of geopolitical situation in the world. General analysis of methods, which NATO used to reformat strategically significant regions is carried out. Special attention is paid to a  study of subjects, which connected with the process of NATO’s partnership programs ‘creation, the Alliance’s globalization, shaping of specific « Balkan » model of organization’s regional strategy.

The evolution of NATO’s approaches to the situation in the Balkans in the 1990s –2000s

The article analyses the change of the organization’s position concerning the situation in the Balkans in the 1990s-2000s on the basis of official documents. Special attention is paid to the analysis of the evolution of the Alliance’s approaches to the building of policy in the Balkan region in the context of its participation in the crisis management and peacekeeping operations within the territory of former Yugoslavia.

SCO IN THE GLOBAL ENCIRCLEMENT OF CRITICISM АGAINST THE BACKGROUND OF THE ACTIVE U. S. BASE POLICYIN THE «GREAT CENTRAL ASIA»

SCO actions in Central Asia (CA) are often become criticized by NATO and its loyal states. The key reasons for that are named to be the military trainings run by SCO and its close ties with Iran as it is a non-official member there or one of the SCO’s observers. The article offers various opinions both amiable and critical with regard to SCO expressed by the world community. The next part of the article describes the US policy for basing its troops in the region and a general situation regarding Pentagon’s military bases located in the CA and Pakistan.

Perspectives of the ‘New Silk Road’ Strategy in the context of NATO withdrawal from Afghanistan

The article focused on the issue of implementation of the ‘New Silk Road’ strategy. Author analyses the key conditions, risks and opportunities, which may affect the success of the Project. It also examined the role of Central Asian countries, as well as the Mid Eastern partners, China and Russia in the field strengthening of regional security after 2014
