Training of workers in industry of the Lower Volga region during second five-year plan (1933–1937)

The article deals with the main directions of the personnel training in the industry of the Lower Volga region during the Second Five-Year Plan (1933 - 1937). The author stresses that the authorities managed to instill public industrial labor skills, to achieve the formation of qualified personnel of various specialties, which provided economic breakthrough in the 1930s.

1812 in the works of the Saratov historians

The article includes a historiografic review of works of the Saratov researchers about the war of 1812. Mainly it says about the books published in 1912–2012. Analysing the works by N. F. Hovansky, V. V. Pugachev, N. A.Troitsky, V. P. Totfalushin, V. S. Parsamov, Yu. L. Yepanchin, I. N. Pleshakov etc. the author has come to the conclusion that the works of the Saratov historians of 1812 war have common features: attentive attitude to the sources, wide range of issues regarded, tendency to demythologization of the war history, denial of pseudopatriotic stereotypes.

Folk culture in the cities of Saratov province in the late XVIII - first half of the XIX cc.

The article describes the reasons that determined the significant role of Russian ethnic culture in the urban socio-cultural environment of Saratov province. Its manifestations in various spheres of city life and, in particular, in the look of these cities are based on written sources. For most county-level cities its influence on the cultural process was dominant. In the main city of the province its features were evident in spiritual and ceremonial life of the general population.

The research of family structure of German settlements on the Volga River in the middle of XIX-th century: based on "Gnilushka" colony (Pfeifer)

The article is devoted to the research of family structure of German settlements in the Volga Region in the middle of XIX-th century, based on the analisys of "Gnilushka" colony in the Kamyshin district of Saratov province. Family structure model of the colony is being studied by the enumeration lists from the point of view of demographic analysis and J. Handzhnal's theory of existence of a unique European-type marriage.

The policy of “indigenization” in the autonomous republics of RSFSR during the 1920s (based on the materials of Autonomous Republic of the Volga Germans)

The article highlights the process of “indigenization” as an element of Soviet national policy. The research has been conducted on the example of Autonomous Republic of the Volga Germans. The “indigenization” was an element of Soviet national policy in 1920s, accomplished in all the nation-state formations of the USSR both Union and autonomous. The “indigenization” was supposed to consolidate the position of “titular” nation, but also caused a whole new set of problems in interethnic relations.

The article is based on the unknown documents and memoirs considers the evacuation of the orphanage № 1 for Spanish kids to the village Kukkus (now – Village Privolgskoe of Rovensky district of  Saratov region). The author is analyzing  the work of the administration of the orphanage. The article examines the difficulties  that the kids  and the staff faced at the new place during the war. The article mostly focuses on the problem what was done to improve living conditions of the kids. 

Saratov voivode the prince Ivan the Big Fedorovich Shahovskoy (1637-1639)

The article describes the unknown pages of the left bank of Saratov connected with voivode’s the Big Ivan Fedorovich Shahovskoy staying in the city, and Holstein embassy, whose secretary was Adam Oleary. These ambassadors returned from Persia to Moscow in 1638 through Astrakhan and Saratov.

First is a detailed biography of prince Ivan Shahovskoy who was voivode in many cities in Russia (Tsarevosanchursk, Ryl'sk, Tomsk, Saratov and Nizhny Novgorod).

Economic development of german Сolonies on the Volga river in the second half of the 18th – the first half of the 19th centuries

This article deals with the first stages of formation of German colonies on the Volga river in the second half of the 18th – the first half of the 19th centuries. The colonization policy of the government consisted of the whole system of well-thought means and decrees that tended to spread on all sides of internal life of colonists. After the first hard years of emerging German colonies and up to the middle of the 19th century thanks to undivided supervision of economic development of the region it became possible to solve the problem of colonization of the region.
